No One Deserves Poverty!!

Housing For People Not Profit!!

Featuring Victorian housing campaigner Jordan Van Den Lamb (AKA “Purple Pingers”), and national poverty campaigner Kristin O’Connell from The Antipoverty Centre, and locals doing it tough who are fighting for real action!!

Despite being told, ‘No One Left Behind’, after 3 years of Federal Labor, people on Centrelink payments (especially JobSeeker) are still hundreds of dollars per week below the poverty-line. Rents are still unaffordable. Over 15,000 are still on the SA Public Housing Waiting List (several hundred extra public homes will barely make a dent).

And we are still adding fuel to the fire, giving $15 billion of taxpayer handouts yearly to property investors.

For people on the lowest incomes, trapped between a cruel welfare system, and an out-of-control housing market, things have never been worse. And we are sick of being told to be patient, or to be grateful for crumbs!!

Anti-Poverty Network SA is calling on candidates to fight for people in poverty, and renters, by committing to:

  • Raising ALL Centrelink Payments above the poverty-line
  • Ending punishing “Mutual Obligation” requirements
  • Scrapping taxpayer handouts for property investors, putting the funds into thousands of extra public homes

Join us on Saturday March 1 to help us kick-off our campaign, and learn how you can help make the housing and poverty crises key issues, everywhere the candidates go!!

  1. I am looking forward to the campaign launch this Saturday.

There is much to be done to achieve our goals, but I am confident in our ability as an organisation.
