This pack is a work-in-progress, but it will include links to key internal documents to help you understand our group’s values, structures, and processes, as well as links for some of the spaces, online, where members communicate with each other.

Diversity and Inclusion Statement: this document expresses our commitment to being a diverse, inclusive organisation, welcoming of, and safe for, people with different identities

Our Structures And Subgroups

Anti-Poverty Network SA includes a number of different subgroups to support our members to get active based on where they live and their interests.

These include:

  • A Northern Suburbs Branch, which meets and holds events in Elizabeth
  • A Western Suburbs Branch, which meets and holds events in Queenstown
  • A Southern Suburbs Branch, bringing together members across the Marion and the Onkaparinga regions (this branch is currently on a break)
  • A Campaigns Team, that usually meets online, and that leads our political and policy work, fighting for urgent action on the housing crisis and the poverty crisis (read more about our Campaigns work here, and here is where you can find our fliers)
    • Our Campaigns Team also includes some small subgroups around different activities, such as Media, Social Media, and Policy and Research
  • A Coordinating Committee, elected every year at our AGM (Annual General Meeting), which helps facilitate and support our work, across Adelaide.

Coordinating Committee Meetings are held online, every month, are usually open to all members. Members are also welcome to nominate for positions.

Every few months, we hold what we call a ‘Quarterly Lunch + Forum’, which is an open meeting for all members and supporters across our different subgroups to come together, hear updates, ideas, proposals, and other news, and listen to guest speakers.

Usually, upcoming meetings and events are listed on our website. Important events are also included in e-mail updates and shared across our online platforms (see below).

How We Communicate Online

SIGNAL CHATS

While we can also be found on Facebook (see below), we have started to shift our online discussions to the more secure, free, Signal app, which can be downloaded onto your phone, and setup on your computer (we can assist you with this!!).

Our “Social” chat: this is a very informal space where members can share updates, news, ideas, events, but also anything unrelated they would like to share, whether it is art they are working on, life-news, or anything else!!

Our Campaigns chat: this is where we discuss our Campaigns work: forums, rallies, stalls, lobbying, and all the other work we do to build pressure for action on the housing crisis and the poverty crisis

We are in the process of setting up a number of dedicated Signal chats for different areas of activity, such as Social Media, Media, and Policy and Research, so further updates, soon!!

FACEBOOK GROUPS

‘Anti-Poverty Network SA Forum’: this is a general Facebook group for members and supporters, full of updates about our work, news items, and conversation about housing, poverty, what is happening out in the community, and other matters

We also have a ‘Current Members’ Facebook group, which is a members-only group, contact us, if you would like to be added.
