Mini-Training Sessions

New to Anti-Poverty Network SA and wanting to learn more? Looking to take the next step and get more active?

Our Activism School is a series of casual, friendly sessions over the next few months to help you give you the confidence and skills to get involved, as we fight for urgent action on the poverty crisis and the housing crisis.

Sessions will include learning about campaigning; how to speak to family, friends, and community about why we need social change; and how to meet politicians.

Pick the sessions that interest you, or come to all!!

What Is Campaigning: Friday November 15, 12pm-1:30pm
What is a campaign? What tools do we use to build community pressure and support? How do we choose what to campaign on? And what does it take to win? We will be looking at examples of successful poverty and housing campaigning.

Having Effective Conversations: Saturday November 23, 12pm-1pm
How do we speak to people about why we need urgent action on the housing crisis and the poverty crisis? How do we deal with objections? How do we convince people on our side to take the next step, and get involved?

Using Social Media: Thursday November 28, 4pm-5pm
Our Social Media Coordinator will speak about how we use Facebook, Instagram, and other tools to reach the community, get people, and what makes for attractive, powerful social media posts.

Interacting With Politicians: Thursday December 5, 12pm-1pm
An ex-politician will cover how you prepare for meeting your politician, how to make sure you (and not them!!) control the agenda, what to ask friendly politicians to do for you, and what to do when a politician is not friendly!!

All sessions will be held at 47 King William Road, Unley (enter from Young Street).

More topics to be announced!!

We are keeping these sessions very small and relaxed, so please RSVP to info@apnsa.org or 0402 681 352.
