Rents continue to skyrocket, making it harder for renters to keep a roof over their head, put food on the table, or pay medical expenses.
But the state government still refuses to freeze or cap rent rises.
15,000 people on the public housing waiting list (and tens of thousands of others needing stable accommodation).
But the state government has only committed to building 1000 new homes (including federal funds), only 6% of the waiting list.
We face an affordability emergency. Governments should do whatever it takes to stop massive, unlimited rent rises, and make secure, affordable housing a reality for all.
In an emergency, baby steps will not do. 3 new public homes a week will not do.
Join us on December 9, as part of a National Day of Action on the Housing Emergency.
