This evening (Monday May 1st), Channel 7 reported there will be a JobSeeker raise in the May Federal Budget, but only for the over-55s.
This is appalling.
The cost-of-living crisis does not discriminate.
Skyrocketing rents do not discriminate. Rising utilities, increasing food costs, and growing medical expenses, do not discriminate.
A 30-year-old or a 40-year-old on JobSeeker is struggling to keep a roof over their head, just as much as a 55-year-old.
So why should the Government discriminate, when it comes to which job-seekers, living on $49 a day, get to eat?
Do not pick and choose, who is worthy of the basics, Albo. Raise the bloody Rate. For all job-seekers. No more excuses. No more waiting.
